When my friends at The Locker Room asked me if I'd dust off the computer and knock out a guest introduction to the magazine I was more than happy. Over the years most of the magazines I've edited or published, Loaded, Jack and GQ to name a few, have featured footballers and quite often my staff and I were helped in securing those interviews by some of the guys at The Locker Room.
What I know from my years of trying to get words of wisdom from guys who make a living from hitting a ball into the back of a net is that they are neither the playboys nor the divs the tabloids would often have us believe. Most of the players who've appeared in or read the magazines I've published, or gatecrashed our parties, have pretty much struck me as being not that different from the rest of the fellas around. They just have a better shot and can go faster from the halfway line to the opposition's box.
