Batts is itching to get back out and watch Toseland – who's back out on the circuit – and Co. He was famous for riding his motorbike into training but says "I haven't got any bikes now although I think about getting one every day. My wife doesn't want me to though. I'm lucky that my wife Mandy is my best mate. We've got two dogs and we live in the right place for walking dogs. We just love being together.
"I live by the seaside and it's so peaceful. Not at the junior football though – it makes you cringe the abuse the ref gets. The other day he walked off. It's ludicrous. I wouldn't put myself through that."
And he's off back out to watch. Toseland won Race One, then quickly took the lead from Haga on the Yamaha in Race Two before a technical failure brought him to an abrupt halt. It was still all good though – James goes into the 4th round at Valencia as Championship leader, 5 points clear from Biaggi.
The Locker Room – and Batts – wish him all the best for the rest of the season...
