By now everyone knows that "he'll be disappointed with that" means "what a crap shot" and "we unsettled Arsenal" means "they don't like it up 'em - especially up north on a wet windy evening".
What noticeable changes have there been in the way clubs deal with the media over the last 15 years?
There are now a lot of press officers. Before you'd ring up a player and he'd say yes or no to an interview. Now you've got to go through press officers who, on the whole are good (and some are brilliant) but there's a fair few - like the one who got me kicked out at Coventry - who are ridiculously over-protective.
What are the 5 most frustrating tactics employed by footballers to avoid an interview?
1) Pretending to be on their mobiles and walking past.
2) Saying "I'll be out in ten minutes" and never reappearing.
3) Saying "ring in the morning" but leaving the voicemail on. And then never ever returning the call.
4) Pretending they can't speak English even though they can.
5) Telling me to f*** off!
