We know this is hardly a novel holiday pick given most of you will have been here at least once one way or another - but there's a reason why the Costa del Sol became a bit of a cliché and that is simply that it's too good for it's own good. Temporarily snubbed by the holiday fashionistas who've all headed off to catch malaria in an eco teepee in Peru, the Sol remains accessible, convenient and beautiful.
Nowhere else offers the same variety, and with resorts ranging from sleepy fishing towns to the chic exclusivity of Puerto Banus or Sotogrande it's a cinch to avoid all the usual tourist nightmare that you'd link with the Malaga end. Plus, there are about a hundred golf courses, fantastic shopping, stunning beaches and amazing scenery, both inland and coastal.
