Know the lingo...
Leash - The line that is attached to your board and leg. This will avoid you from losing your board.
Surf Wax - this is a wax for the surfboard. Other then for skies/ snowboards you apply it on the top of the board. It is used to make the board less slippery when you are on it.
Wipe out - To fall of the surfboard.
Unbroken part of the wave - This is the place to ride on the wave. Beginners start in the foam. More experienced surfers catch the wave before it breaks and surf away from the critical part of the wave.
Critical part - The breaking part of the wave.
Kook - beginner surfer.
Line-up - The place were the surfers wait for catching the unbroken wave.
To line up - Using reference points on the land to maintain on the same position while being out in the water.
Hang loose - Surf slang for what«s up or to wear pants without underwear.
Highway surfer - A surfer who drives around with a surfboard but never surfs.
Classic, epic, nice - Expression for something special.
